ALIVE is a 22-foot inflatable installation created from sheets of plastic that have been assembled into a large-scale organic form. Through its monumental scale, the work seeks to evoke a sense of awe toward the magnitude and power of life while simultaneously questioning what defines a living being. The installation is animated by AI-generated videos created using Stable Diffusion Deforum, featuring textures inspired by volcanoes, water, and metal, which are projected onto the sculpture through two projectors. These constantly shifting projections give the artificial structure a lifelike presence, blurring the boundaries between the organic and the synthetic. Situated within a posthumanist framework, ALIVE explores how technological advancements are reshaping traditional distinctions between human and nonhuman, living and nonliving, inviting viewers to reconsider what qualities constitute life in an increasingly technological world. The work received the Best in Show Award at the 2025 Electric! exhibition presented by the Greater Denton Arts Council.
